Are you feeling anxious or sad?

I recently read an article that referenced how it is natural to be anxious, as we enter a new year and face some degree of uncertainty.

Furthermore, the article discussed a New Year, New Life, New Love, Changed Car, a Marriage, a Baby, a Finished Career, a Celebration of some sort, etc.

Interestingly, the article further confirmed how we often feel uncomfortable, and how it leads to sadness, because we feel that we did not make the most of the time that was given to us, and instead of thinking what we hope to achieve, we dwell on what we did not achieve.

Moreover, I would offer a New Career, resulting from taking control and managing your talent, is also something that may cause you to be anxious; however, it does not have to cause you anxiety.

Rather than waste time feeling anxious and/or sad, decide to do something interesting and productive, such as get smart on Talent Management and prepare yourself and your company for success in 2022.

Happy National Philanthropy Day!

Today we celebrate the charitable work that EVERYONE does to make a difference and create impact in their communities.

Although I appreciate the month of April because it is National Volunteer Month; I absolutely love today because it is National Philanthropy Day!

So, the question is what philanthropic projects wake you up at night, and warm your soul throughout the day.  Is it supporting schools, a food pantry, a homeless shelter, a women’s shelter or a church?

Provided below are a few of my favorite philanthropic efforts that wake me up at night, and warm my soul throughout the day, all of which are in support of the Carolyn E. Parker Foundation, Alhziemers Organization and the March of Dimes.

Project Cinderella – Nearly 600 new dresses distributed to girls attending Spring Ridge Middle School and Leonardtown Middle School

Sponsorship for Spring Ridge Middle School Young Girl’s Empowerment Club Activities by providing meals and hosting the following Wednesday Workshops: Dining like Divas Etiquette Class, Cyber Bullying Awareness and Education Class, Financial Management Class, College and Career Sessions, Self Defense Class, Dating Violence Class, Health and Nutrition Class, Meditation Class, I AM My Sister class, etc.

Men Make A Difference Day Seminars with Parks and Recreation and Great Mills High School

Sister2Sister Events – Educating, Empowering and Elevating the lives of Women

What is employee engagement?

Employee engagement is the strength of the mental and emotional connection employees feel toward the work they do, their teams, and their organization. Specifically, employee engagement measures how employees feel about their organization.

Employee engagement is often misconstrued when it is used interchangeably with similar concepts, such as happiness, satisfaction, or wellbeing, as there are some clear differences among these concepts that remain important to also understand.

While important, happiness is not the same as engagement, because it says nothing about how invested employees are in the company, nor how hard they are working on behalf of the organization’s mission and measures.

Additionally, engagement is more long term, and happiness is a short-term. Hence, happiness is a rapidly changing measurement, as it simply may just depend on the type of day an employee is experiencing.

Are you an introvert?

Surprisingly to many, I, too, am a strong introvert.

An introvert is a person with qualities of a personality type known as introversion, which means that they feel more comfortable focusing on their inner thoughts and ideas, rather than what’s happening externally. They enjoy spending time with just one or two people, rather than large groups or crowds, which may cause them to be exhausted since their energy comes from within.

Today and beyond, introverts, I want you to be free to stand up and tell someone something about yourself.
